Always looking to new horizons
In 1835, Anton Gäng founds a lime and cement factory in Weizen, Germany. Wilhelm Stotmeister acquires the plant in 1936, taking over management operations with his son Fritz
in 1948. The rural setting of the plant in Stühlingen is a
constant source of surprise to visitors today. Although the infrastructure is not as densely developed here as in built-up urban areas, this is the location for the headquarters and
main production works of an international group with a workforce of over 3,890 spread over 19 countries. The company's international outlook may be attributable to the special geography of this location, situated close to the
borders with Switzerland, Austria and France. This special setting has always encouraged an open-minded attitude
in the people of this region, giving rise to a cosmopolitan outlook which correlates well with Sto's international
character.
