Sto participates in World Cleanup Day worldwide

September 25, 2025

Working together for a clean environment

The Sto Group once again participated fully in World Cleanup Day this year. Employees from numerous countries took part in local clean-up campaigns to actively contribute to reducing environmental pollution.

Why World Cleanup Day is important

According to the World Bank, over two billion tonnes of waste are generated worldwide every year. A large proportion of this is not disposed of properly and ends up in the environment – for example, in waterways, forests and on beaches. World Cleanup Day, organised by the international network ‘Let's do it’, sends a strong signal against this development. Sto is proud to be part of this global movement.

Local actions with a global impact

Whether plastic bottles, packaging material or curious finds such as car tyres and electrical appliances – the Sto teams worked hard to collect rubbish and thus made an important contribution to environmental protection.

"For us, World Cleanup Day is more than just a rubbish collection campaign. It stands for active responsibility and cooperation at Sto and in society," says Dr Eike Messow, Head of Sustainability at the Sto Group.
